UK Feminista, founded in 2010, is an NGO which promotes and supports feminist activism in the UK. The group supports people to take action in three ways:

  • Offering resources and training on how to campaign for change
  • Working with young people and teachers to tackle classroom sexism through trainings, workshops and practical resources

The grant awarded by Isla allowed UK Feminista to:

  • Produce six activist training guides,on topics such as how to set up a feminist group and run effective campaigns
  • Distribute guides to students through Freshers’ Packs and at regional training events including at universities.
  • Produce four film guides/ resources for activists, including how to lobby effectively using non-violent direct action. All this took place in a year where UK Feminsta campaigns generated media and social debate about everyday sexism (such as through its ‘Lose the Lads’ Mags’ campaign)
