Project Overview
Brixton Soup Kitchen is a community space for those who are experiencing homelessness. They provide food, drinks and companionship in a warm and friendly environment
Their new project, funded by ISLA, aims to get young people from deprived backgrounds and homelessness into work and training. Led by founders, Mahamed Hashi and Solomon Smith, the project will bring together a series of person centered workshops, led by staff who have experience working with disadvantaged individuals in Lambeth.
Workshops will include:
- Building CVs
- Job searching
- Interview techniques and preparation
- Confidence building, including voice projection and body language
- Support and advice on securing employment
- Encouraging skill development through work experience and volunteering
- Talks from inspiring leaders and speakers in different industries
- Personal finance
- Personal hygiene
- Time keeping
- Mental health
- Technology as a tool in the workplace
